
Jan Schumacher (born 1980) received his first musical training at the Limburg Domsingknaben and the Federal State Youth Choir of Rhineland-Palatinate (LJC). He studied music and German philology in Mainz, and choral conducting with Wolfgang Schäfer in Frankfurt.
Jan Schumacher gained valuable experience in courses at S. Cambreling, R. Sund, S. Halsey and G. Grün.Furthermore he was assistant to the conductor-professors at the School of Music in Mainz and learned during guest conducting at the LJC.
Since its formation Jan Schumacher directs the ensemble Camerata Musica Limburg, with whom he was rewarded as "HR-Classical Choir of the Year". They were also first winners of competitions in Tours (F), Bicester (B) and Bremen (D), as well as first winners of the 8th German Choir Competition 2010 in Dortmund. Camerata Musica Limburg performs regularly at festivals at home and abroad and is a media partner of Deutschlandradio Kultur. 2011 the choir was invited to the 9th World Symposium on Choral Music in Argentina.
Jan is board member of the Music Committee of the Hessian federal singers as well as of the Commission of European Choral Music Association - Europa Cantat.
