Die französische Sopranistin und Chorleiterin Catherine Maerten erhielt ihre musikalische Ausbildung an der Universität Rouen sowie an den Konservatorien in Rouen und Lille.

Nach einer sechsjährigen Unterrichtstätigkeit an französischen Schulen arbeitete sie zunächst als Gesangslehrerin am Centre Polyphonique in Lyon, bevor sie 1987 als Dozentin an das Conservatoire National de Région de Lyon berufen wurde, wo sie bis 2003 den Kinderchor und den Frauenchor leitete.

Zur Zeit unterrichtet sie Gesang an der staatlichen Musikschule in Villeurbanne und ist Dozentin für Stimmbildung am Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon.

The French soprano and choir conductor Catherine Maerten received her musical education at the university of Rouen as well as at the conservatories of Rouen and Lille.

After teaching at French schools for six years, she first worked as a singing teacher at the Centre Polyphonique in Lyon before, in 1987, being appointed lecturer at the national conservatoire for the region of Lyon, where, till 2003, she was in charge of the children‘s and women‘s choirs.

Currently, she is teaching singing at the state-run music school of Villeurbanne and is also lecturing on vocal training at the higher national conservatory in Lyon.
